The car market has not been going through the best of times lately. Nevertheless, Americans have already chosen the best models of this year. US News & World Report recently announced the best electric cars, and there are some surprising names among them.

Although the year 2022 is not even half over yet, such elections should not be surprising. This is not the first time that the best models in certain regions have been revealed, so the announcement of the US favorites should not be too surprising. The new Kia EV6 electric crossover became the best electric car, while the Tesla Model Y was chosen as the best luxury electric SUV.

US News Best Cars notes that the winning vehicles offer the best overall combination of quality, value 

and efficiency in their respective segment. As for the Kia EV6 crossover, it has received praise for its spacious and luxurious interior, brisk acceleration and athletic handling. US News calls Kia the most versatile electric car with a low base price and "exceptional range of up to 310 miles."

The Tesla Model Y is similar in many ways to the Kia EV6, although it is a higher-end vehicle with a significantly higher price tag. US News awarded it as the best luxury electric SUV of 2022. Tesla's surprising sales had a significant impact on this success. The Model Y is now the best-selling electric car in the States, despite fierce competition and a hefty starting price of nearly $63,000. US dollars.

According to Tesla, the Model Y can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and has an EPA-estimated range of more than 300 miles.
