Citroën turns concept into reality with 50 limited-edition My Ami Buggy cars

 

Only a few months have passed since the presentation of the My Ami Buggy concept model, but thanks to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the public, Citroën has decided to present a limited edition car based on it. Only 50 of these unique models will be produced and sales will begin on June 21st on the Citroën website. Each customer's car will be different, as there will be a plaque on the inside, on the left side of the dashboard, stating that this My Ami Buggy is an extremely rare model. The table will also include a number from 1 to 50 corresponding to the serial number.

Today, we are excited to announce that we will be making this idea a reality with an extremely limited edition My Ami Buggy. This will once again demonstrate the personalization capabilities of the Ami model. My Ami Buggy will be assembled without doors, and the roof will be raised, which will allow the driver and passenger to feel even more free. At the same time, both will enjoy a quiet ride with an electric motor," said Laurence Hansen, Citroen's head of strategy and product.

Adventurous exterior

The exterior of the limited-edition My Ami Buggy will adopt the trim details of the My Ami Pop and Vibe versions. In its style, the new model will embody the spirit of adventure and convey the pleasant feeling that comes with complete freedom of expression.

The first noticeable difference compared to other versions is the new body color. The dark brownish-green color blends in with nature and perfectly matches the nature of the Buggy mod. The front and rear bumper reinforcements will be taken from the Pop and Vibe versions, along with a front skid plate and lamp trim. Original wheel arches, wider fenders and a rear spoiler will give the car a more solid look. Dark protective details will allow the driver to gain more confidence and strengthen the impression of solidity. The black finish will be the distinguishing feature of this version. Dark details will create a contrast to the predominant green color.

In order to liven up the body design, bright yellow trim details will also be used. They will give My Ami Buggy a cheerful look and will be noticeable from afar. On the front protective plate, two indentations marked with bright yellow stickers will stand out. The same color will be the direction of rotation arrows stuck on the wheel arches. In aviation, such references are important technical details, and in this model they are used as decorations.

The My Ami Buggy will be fitted with version-specific 14-inch perforated gold wheels with black hubcaps. The wheel centers will be decorated with characteristic Citroën brand chevrons. Such contrasting wheels perfectly match the brownish-green color of the body.

The front protection plate can be further personalized by customers, for example, any words they like can be written on it and My Ami Buggy will become even more original. The parked car will be able to be covered with a matching teal Ami cover.

Free as the wind

Looking at the car, you can immediately notice that there are no doors, and the roof can be opened. This allows you to enjoy your time outdoors to the maximum. In order to ensure passenger protection, steel pipes with hinges are installed instead of doors.

The opening roof of the car is a gray tarpaulin. The design and color chosen is a tribute to the historic Mehari and 2CV models. The protective material is easy to roll up, but it is sufficiently dense and waterproof. The high quality of the material is determined by transillumination with ultraviolet rays. Such a roof perfectly protects the driver and passenger from direct sunlight and precipitation. The soft roof is attached to the body with special clips. It can be easily rolled up and placed behind the seats.

Vibrant atmosphere

In keeping with the overall design theme, yellow trim is also used on the interior of the My Ami Buggy. A bright color also helps to draw attention to certain practical matters. For example, the three storage boxes located next to the dashboard, the hook for storing bags and the door opening straps are marked in yellow.

The seats are covered with a particularly practical black fabric, the edges of which are decorated with yellow seams. The cozy cabin invites you to sit comfortably inside without waiting for anything. The floor mats are also embroidered with yellow stitches. The bright color also stands out in the center trim.

Only 50 of these unique cars will be offered to customers on June 21 on a special online shopping website. All My Ami Buggy customers will have their cars delivered directly to their homes. The first customers will receive their purchases on August 9.
