The completely new electric car "Renault Megane E-TECH Electric" that shined in this year's "European Car of the Year" elections can already be seen in Lithuania. It is shown for the first time in the Baltic countries in the new car center of the French manufacturer's representative in our country, Sostena, which opened its doors in the middle of May, in Savanorių prospekt, Vilnius.
The new almost 5 thousand square meters of sales and maintenance space is designed to further accelerate the service of drivers of both personal and commercial Renault and Dacia cars.
The most modern car dealership in Eastern Europe is equipped according to the latest manufacturers' requirements. The repair shop is equipped with 19 lifts, and the most advanced service equipment here is also intended for the repair and maintenance of electric cars.
Special attention is given to them in the new center: an electric car repair and electric car battery installation area has been created, where electrical system diagnostics and repairs are carried out. Renault or Dacia drivers arriving with electric cars are provided with 12 charging points with a power of up to 22 kW.
You can get acquainted with the latest electric car "Megane E-TECH Electric" at a convenient time, because the new salon is also open on Saturdays.
A platform for an electric car
Megane E-TECH Electric is the first Renault model to take full advantage of the new CMF-EV platform, specially developed for electric vehicles. It has a reduced engine compartment, as the electrical components are more compact than those of internal combustion engines.
In addition, this platform made it possible to extend the chassis base up to 2.68 m (the total length of the car is 4.2 m, height - 1.5 m), and the wheels were installed in the corners of the platform: thus, additional space was obtained for passengers and luggage - for additional items the total volume of the designated spaces in the cabin reaches 30 liters, and the trunk capacity without folding the seats is 440 liters.
Due to the fundamentally changed chassis and steering system, the battery of the electric car is installed directly under the floor. It is slimmer than ever by 110 mm, and the electric car's center of gravity is 90 mm lower than that of the Megane with an internal combustion engine.
The CMF-EV platform makes it possible to use the energy stored in the batteries more efficiently, to drive further and to charge the electric car in a shorter time.
A tribute to heritage and fashion
The Megane name has been known all over the world for almost three decades, four generations of this model have been introduced, and more than 1.3 million people drive it on European roads alone. people. The Megane E-TECH Electric pays tribute to this long-standing heritage with its design and versatility.
The exterior design is a tribute to perhaps the most fashionable body type on the car market at the moment, city SUVs. 18- or 20-inch rims also give the impression of greater clearance, while the descending roofline, inset handles and a wide wheelbase add sportiness.
Adaptive lights are installed in the new electric car, so the driver no longer needs to change the dipped beam to the high beam, and also, due to their design features, city roads are illuminated with a wider beam and allow you to see more.
The new model's interior comes standard with a combined 12.3-inch horizontal digital instrument cluster and a center-mounted 9-inch horizontal or 12-inch vertical multimedia display with OpenR Link control system.
Depending on the selected equipment level, the upholstery used in the cabin is made of fully recycled materials, and the interior is decorated with artificial leather Thermoelastoplast (TEP) and fully recyclable fabric. A top-level trim is also available, with genuine leather upholstery for the front and rear seats.
Engineers applied the patented Cocoon Effect technology to this model: a layer of sound-absorbing foam is pressed between the layers of the car's floor and throughout the battery. It makes the naturally quiet electric car even quieter. Such sound insulation weighs even 3 kg less than that normally used in cars.
New composition batteries
Depending on the choice, the Megane E-TECH Electric is offered with a 96 kW (130 hp, 250 Nm) or 160 kW (218 hp, 300 Nm) engine. Up to 100 km/h. an electric car can accelerate in 7.4 seconds. The car can be equipped with batteries with a capacity of 40 or 60 kWh, innovative chemical composition - they use less cobalt and more nickel.
This makes it possible to ensure a higher energy density in the batteries - it is 20 times higher in the Megane E-TECH Electric model than in the electric Renault ZOE.
According to WLTP tests, the model with a 40 kWh battery can cover 300 km on a single charge, while the version with a 60 kWh battery can cover 450 km. According to WTLP tests, an electric car with the Evolution Extended Range package can travel up to 470 km.
Depending on the selected battery capacity and the version of the electric car, with the Wallbox 7.4 kW home station, the battery charged in 8 hours will allow a mixed range of up to 400 km. After charging the battery for an hour at a 22 kW charging station, you will be able to drive up to 160 km in the city, and after half an hour charging the battery at a 130 kW fast charging station, you will be able to drive 200 km on the highway.
