At the annual conference of 2022, Audi presented the luxury concept electric car "Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept". Almost a year ago, the company with four rings showed the Audi A6 Sportback with an electric drive at the Shanghai Motor Show, and the concept Avant reveals even more details about what will be the synthesis of the revolutionary drive and traditional Audi design.

Like the 2021 Audi A6 e-tron concept, the A6 Avant will have an electric drive using the advanced PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform developed under the guidance of Audi engineers. The new electric concept car is the same size as the A6 Sportback e-tron, so at 4.96 m long, 1.96 m wide and 1.44 m high, it is a representative of the luxury car class, and its appearance has been developed according to by the canons of modern Audi design. Distinctive elements such as the Singleframe grille and the solid rear light bar further emphasize its kinship with the other electric models in the Audi e-tron family.

The exterior of the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, presented in March, is not just an improved look of the Sportback. On the contrary, its lines and elegant proportions reveal what Audi's production cars will look like, hinting at how dynamic and elegant the luxury electric models of the brand with four rings will look.

Concept A6 is a bright representative of the brand's business class. Cars of this range have represented the brand in one of the most popular segments in the world since 1968 (until 1994 they were marked as "Audi 100"). And from 1977, the "Avant" version was also offered - a revolutionary and extremely expressive interpretation of the station wagon.

Avant models combine dynamic looks with great practicality, and with the debut of the model, the company literally created a new type of car that was often copied by competitors. And until now, the term "Avant", born from the combination of words "avant garde", is used to refer to all elegant-looking station wagons.

The new PPE platform ensures that the car's design meets the driving characteristics with everyday practicality adapted to long-distance journeys. This means that depending on the drive version and model, the Audi A6 e-tron will be able to drive up to 700 kilometers (measured by the WLTP standard), and the most powerful models from 0 to 100 km/h. will accelerate in less than four seconds.

The technical capabilities of the Audi A6 Avant are extremely high, and this is best demonstrated by the drive system and battery technology. With an 800-volt electrical system and a charging power of up to 270 kW, an electric car can be charged for a distance of approximately 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes at fast charging stations.

The unmistakable e-tron: design and light technology

In terms of its size, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, like the cars of the current A6/A7 generation, is without a doubt a representative of the business class. Large 22-inch wheels, a short front and rear, a low body and a dynamically curved roof give the Avant sporty proportions.

In the long history of Audi, the aerodynamic properties of luxury models have always been very important: already in 1982, with a drag coefficient of just 0.30 cW, the Audi 100 (C3) was the undisputed champion of aerodynamics in all classes worldwide, far ahead of its competitors. And the concept Audi A6 e-tron turns a new page in the success story - the Sportback's cW coefficient of 0.22 is unmatched in the C-class electric car segment, the Avant's coefficient is only 0.02 higher. And this means lower energy consumption and greater driving distance.

The front Digital Matrix LED lights have a resolution almost equivalent to cinema projectors. If the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept is placed against a wall while charging, the driver and passengers can pass the time by playing video games displayed on the wall.

There are also three small but high-definition LED projectors on each side of the car that display images when the doors are opened - these can be both short and long messages, and dynamic light effects can greet passengers in their own language.

For Audi, the possibilities of safety systems that are compatible with the aesthetic design are also very important. That's why high-definition projectors on the ground show warning signals - for example, warning cyclists that car doors might be open.

A further four high-definition LED projectors are discreetly integrated in the corners of the car and show cornering light projections, the appearance of these projections can be customized depending on the requirements in force in different countries and regions.

PPE platform - high ground clearance and low height

The PPE platform was specially developed for electric vehicles, which allows you to use all the advantages of this technology. The most important element of the platform is the battery compartment between the axles, which in the A6 e-tron concept and Avant can hold around 100 kWh of energy, and the large area used ensures that the height of the battery is not high. This means that this platform can be used for models with high ground clearance, as well as dynamic and low electric cars, such as the Audi A6 Avant, without changes to the basic structure.

The two electric motors of the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept have a total power of 350 kW and a torque of 800 newton meters.
