Designed with maximum passenger comfort in mind, the Audi urbansphere is a new concept car from the manufacturer. Although the Audi urbansphere was developed by designers and engineers from the very beginning for the heavy traffic of Chinese cities, the concept is equally applicable in other metropolises around the world. In today's big cities, where personal space is extremely limited, the concept car offers the most spacious cabin ever created by Audi, and the clever combination of advanced technologies and digital services ensures a unique next-generation driving experience.
Audi skysphere, Audi grandsphere and Audi urbansphere are three concept cars with which the brand with four rings presents its vision of high-class future mobility. In them, Audi has created an electric car experience that goes far beyond just the time it takes to get from point A to point B.
The first electric Audi skysphere concept roadster debuted in 2021. August. It represented an impressive vision of a self-driving GT car that had a variable wheelbase and could transform into an autonomous sports car.
And just a few weeks later, at the IAA exhibition, Audi presented the second model of the "sphere" series - the Audi grandsphere concept. This large four-seat sedan underscored the brand's ambitions for the future of progressive luxury.
And these two concept cars are connected to Audi urbansphere by the fact that their technical solutions are based on Level 4 autonomous driving technology. Audi is currently developing this technology together with Volkswagen Group software developers CARIAD, which will be introduced in the second half of the decade.
It is obvious at first glance that the Audi urbansphere is not only the largest representative of the sphere family, but also the largest Audi concept model presented to date. With an impressive size of 5.51 m long, 2.01 m wide and 1.78 m high, it belongs to the world's most luxurious car segment, but the Audi urbansphere concept boldly breaks with conventional conventions.
From the very beginning, it was designed with passengers in mind, and one of the most important parameters is the impressive 3.40 m wheelbase.
Drive system and charging
The Audi urbansphere concept has a combined output of two electric motors of 295 kilowatts, system torque of 690 newton meters, and it also has permanent quattro all-wheel drive.
The heart of the drive system is 800 volt technology. It ensures that the battery can be charged with a power of up to 270 kW at the fast charging stations in the shortest possible time: ten minutes is enough to charge the battery enough to drive more than 300 kilometers. In addition, the battery, with a capacity of more than 120 kilowatt-hours, can be charged from 5 to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes, with a range of up to 750 kilometers.
Salon
The passenger doors of the Audi urbansphere concept open forward, and there is no center pillar. This ensures that as soon as passengers get inside the Audi urbansphere, the entire interior space opens up, and the four individual two-row seats provide first-class comfort.
Looking at the screen installed across the width of the cabin, second-row passengers can participate in a live video conference or watch movies together, and they can each use a separate side of the screen. When the screen is not in use and because it is transparent, passengers can see what is in front of the car or admire the view through the glass roof.
The Audi urbansphere also has a wellness area. For example, when detecting stress, this adaptive app analyzes facial expressions and voice, assesses how passengers are feeling and offers personalized relaxation tips such as a meditation program that can be used on a personal screen and headrests with a private sound space.
The car comes to life with the touch of a finger, starting to display projections on the wood surface below the windshield. Depending on the selected driving mode – both self-driving and autonomous mode – the travel information required during the entire journey is displayed in extremely high resolution either across the entire width of the cabin or separately for the driver and passenger.
Many of the finishing materials used in the interior of the Audi urbansphere concept, such as the wood veneer surfaces, are made from sustainable materials, and the choice of such materials allows for the use of wood that grows close to the production site, using all raw materials for production without waste. Also, no chemicals are used in the manufacturing process.
Exterior design and lights

The new concept car features large 24-inch six-twin-spoke wheels (a tribute to the legendary Audi Avus concept car from the 90s) that are characterized by lightweight construction and stability, as well as functional sports car wheels and the brand's Bauhaus design traditions.
The lights on the left and right sides of the Singleframe grille are narrow, like staring eyes. Known as Audi Eyes, these digital light sources echo the brand's four-ring logo, and their interlocking rings form the pupil of the eye, a new and instantly recognizable digital light signature.
A special accessory has been created especially for the Chinese market, the illuminated Audi umbrella, which passengers can pick up when exiting the Audi urbansphere. Inspired by traditional Chinese umbrellas, it can not only protect against rain, but also acts as a multi-functional light source, the inner side of the umbrella is made of reflective fabric, so the pedestrian is more visible and his path is illuminated.
