The new Range Rover Sport is unveiled: the impressive SUV is presented with incredible stunts

The world premiere of the new Range Rover Sport took place after the car made its first spectacular crossing of a mighty Icelandic dam. The sporty next-generation SUV performed a breathtaking stunt: it was able to climb the ramp of the Karahnjukar Dam and withstand the challenge of water flowing at a speed of 750 tons per minute. A loss of traction would have put it in danger of plunging down the dangerous 90-metre slope below the dam and all the way to the valley floor.

The successful ascent of the dam was shown for the first time at Jaguar Land Rover's exclusive launch event at its Advanced Product Development Center in Gaydon, UK. James Bond's official stunt double, Jessica Hawkins, was behind the wheel as the next-generation Range Rover Sport showcased the car's grip, handling, performance and unflappable composure, completing a series of challenges for the sporty cousin of the recently launched Range Rover, the Sport.

Previous generations of British sports SUVs have overcome many difficult tests: they drove up the famous Pikes Peak at record speed, crossed the Rub al Khali, also known as the "Empty Quarter", one of the largest sandy deserts in the world in the south of the Arabian Peninsula for the first time in history, and in 2018 climbed the 999 steps to the Tianmen "Gate of Heaven" mountain in China.

"The new generation of luxurious and dynamic Range Rover Sport SUV is the most desirable, technologically advanced and capable model. It combines many advantages: both solid appearance and instinctive driving. This is due to the most advanced combination of suspension technologies, which has never been used in a Land Rover model before.

The new "Range Rover" presented at the beginning of the year has already achieved exceptional success in the Baltic countries, so I have no doubt that the "Range Rover Sport" will follow in its footsteps", Justė Jarušė, the business manager of Jaguar Land Rover in the Baltic countries, presented the car.

Great foundations

The new Range Rover Sport is built on Land Rover's advanced, flexible Modular Longitudinal Platform (MLA-Flex), which provides the vehicle with an excellent structural foundation for exceptional dynamics and other benefits. Its powerful and efficient powertrain lineup includes two plug-in hybrid systems with six-cylinder gasoline engines. Thanks to them, the car covers a distance of up to 113 km on electricity alone, and the CO 2 emission is only 18 g/km.

Designed for drivers with different needs, the new 530 hp V8 Twin Turbo engine delivers the same performance as a sports car power unit, taking the car from up to 100 km/h. accelerates in just 4.5 seconds when the Dynamic Launch system is activated. There is also a choice of powerful and efficient mild hybrid petrol and diesel Ingenium powertrains, and in 2024. a fully electric version of the new SUV will be offered.

The new Range Rover Sport is the most dynamic version of Land Rover's luxury SUV. Thanks to the new intelligent all-wheel drive and the most advanced technologies, the new SUV will demonstrate its wide range of capabilities even far from paved roads.

A first for the new Range Rover Sport, adaptive cruise control off-road will help drivers navigate challenging terrain and maintain a consistent pace based on ground conditions. Drivers can select one of four comfort levels, and the system will intelligently regulate speed, allowing full attention to be focused only on driving the vehicle.

The new Range Rover Sport will be available in S, SE, HSE and Autobiography specification levels, with a special First Edition trim series offered during the first year of production.

An innovation will debut

The instinctive response to the driver's actions and the agility of the new SUV on the road are determined by a set of technologies controlled by Land Rover's integrated chassis control system. The newly offered Stormer Handling Pack includes the best combination of chassis technologies on offer. It provides the most dynamic and agile handling.

With this package, the car is equipped with the Dynamic Response Pro system, all four steering wheels, an electronic active differential with torque steer control under braking and configurable driving programs.

Dynamic Response Pro is a 48-volt electronic active body roll control system capable of applying up to 1,400 Nm of torque to each axle. This provides a safe driving sensation and a new level of control over body movements in turns. All-wheel drive helps to achieve unparalleled agility and maneuverability at low speeds and excellent stability at high speeds.

In addition, in the new Range Rover Sport, the manufacturer presents for the first time the Dynamic Air Suspension system of variable air volume air springs. Fitted to all new cars, the intelligent system extends the suspension's travel capabilities by varying the pressure in the special airbags to deliver the traditional Range Rover Sport comfort and dynamic handling expected of a sporty SUV.

To optimize suspension response, the vehicle itself monitors the road ahead and uses eHorizon navigation data to prepare the car for upcoming turns in advance.

Cleverly personalized

Dramatic proportions underline the sensual exterior of Range Rover Sport, which is characterized by precise shapes, a dynamic stance and an instantly recognizable profile.

The refined design is also visible in the completely new cabin. The new interpretation of the traditional Range Rover Sport driver's workplace is now more reminiscent of the cockpit of a sports model, using the most modern comfort and driving assistance technologies and high-quality equipment materials.

Land Rover's powerful electrical architecture supports an ecosystem of seamlessly connected technologies, including remotely downloaded software updates. Intelligent technology supports remote updates of the 63 electronic modules installed in the car, so the new Range Rover Sport will remain at the forefront of cutting-edge innovations, modern technologies and services throughout its life.

The award-winning Pivi Pro multimedia system features a high-resolution sliding 13.1-inch touchscreen. It is placed in the center of the dashboard in a modernist style. Embodying an intuitive personal assistant, the system lets you control everything from navigation to media and vehicle settings. It remembers the user's habits to intelligently personalize the car's options.

The Meridian Signature Sound System is the most advanced and powerful sound system ever fitted to a Range Rover Sport. It features up to 29 speakers, including four in the headrests to create personal sound zones for the four main cabin passengers. A new generation active noise reduction program also plays a role here, as a result of which less outside noise enters the cabin.

The new Range Rover Sport, like the recently launched next-generation Range Rover, will be built exclusively at the company's historic Solihull plant in the UK. Orders for the new models will be accepted from the end of May, and the first cars will reach the Baltic countries in the fall. The price of the new Range Rover Sport will start at 98,550 euros.
